Short Bio: 

Rowan Farintosh is a saxophonist, composer, arranger, woodwind doubler, and award-winning performer based on Vancouver Island. Rowan is primarily a jazz musician, however also takes inspiration from contemporary genres like hip-hop, funk, R&B, ambient, and progressive rock. Through this diverse set of musical interests, Rowan composes music based in Jazz improvisation that is accessible to people with a wide variety of musical taste. He currently performs regularly with his own quintet at Hermann’s Jazz Club as well as providing a supporting role in popular music groups who perform around Victoria, BC.

Rowan Farintosh is a saxophonist, composer, arranger, and award-winning performer based on Vancouver Island. Rowan is primarily a jazz musician, however also takes inspiration from contemporary genres like hip-hop, funk, R&B, ambient, and progressive rock. 

Through this diverse set of musical interests, Rowan composes music based in Jazz improvisation that is accessible to people with a wide variety of musical taste. He currently performs regularly with his own quintet at Hermann’s Jazz Club as well as providing a supporting role with popular music groups who perform around Victoria, BC. Currently, Rowan is focusing on completing his Batchelor’s degree in Jazz performance at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo after spending two years at Toronto’s Humber College. During his time in Toronto he studied with world renowned saxophonists, Kirk Macdonald and Alex Dean. Since returning to the Island, Rowan has performed with a plethora of the region’s most acclaimed artists, including Monik Nordine, Phil Albert, Ben Heriques, and Brent Jarvis to name a few. Later in 2022, Rowan is planning his first EP under his own name, following his first sideman release with Marvin Thiele entitled “Mirage”.
